Shore Should Shove-Off With Incinerator Plan - Tom Clarke MP
Tom Clarke MP has come out fighting and unequivocally on the side of residents opposed to Shore Energy’s Planning Application to site a Pyrolysis Plant in the south of Coatbridge. He wants individuals in every community in Coatbridge to be united in their opposition to their town being treated as a dump for waste, but above all he is against the plan on health grounds.
Shore Energy is proposing to build a Pyrolysis Plant in Carnbroe, adjacent to the A8, which they claim is needed for environmental reasons. But the local MP argues that Pyrolysis is another name for an incinerator and if this idea ever gets off the ground it would be dangerous to the health and wellbeing of all residents in Coatbridge, particularly children.

GARTCOSH-GATE: MP Demands Progress Not Broken Promises
Tom Clarke MP has reacted furiously to the prospect that the much-heralded crime super-campus being delayed once again raises genuine fears that the project could be shelved indefinitely. He is calling for an end to the uncertainty and demanding a positive outcome.
Mr Clarke said: “We were told back in 2004 when the super-campus was announced that it could open as early as 2006. That means we are running a staggering four years behind schedule. It is absolutely ridiculous. It is beginning to look like this whole project is aimlessly going nowhere. This is an unacceptable state of affairs and wouldn’t be tolerated in any other business environment”.
MP's Message To Families - Keep Heating On
Tom Clarke MP has urged vulnerable families in his constituency not to worry about turning up their heating as the Government will pay out millions of pounds in Cold Weather Payments.
Mr Clarke said: "As the cold weather continues, I don’t want vulnerable people to feel left in the cold. I especially want the elderly to know that extra help is on the way. There are two ways we are helping this winter firstly, with Winter Fuel payments of £250 or £400 for the over 80s. Secondly people in my constituency will also get the increased Cold Weather Payments of £25 per week. The payments are automatic so everyone entitled will get them and should not worry about turning up their heating."
Tom Clarke MP Urges People To Back Global Poverty Promise

This is part of a campaign to put the Government’s promise to raise international development aid to 0.7% of national income by 2013 into legislation.
In one year alone, the Department for International Development helped train over 100,000 teachers, vaccinate more than three million children against measles, provide a million people with clean water, protected seven million people with anti-malaria bednets and gives more than 12 million people access to better sanitation.

Tom Clarke MP Demands Jobs For Gartcosh
Amid the gloomy unemployment statistics recently published local MP Tom Clarke requested a meeting with Scottish Enterprise officials During the meeting a variety of issues were raised from Banks not lending to small businesses, to the downturn of the construction industry, and the lack of evident activity on Gartcosh Business Park.
The MP welcomed the news that the Scottish Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) had purchased land for their new headquarters on the Gartcosh site but he was keen to know when this would be fully developed. Urging Scottish Enterprise to step up their efforts, the MP stressed: “I made it clear to the Officials that in a time of recession and given the considerable public investment in Gartcosh Business Park it was time that the full potential of this site was realised. In terms of the vision location connections and opportunity this site has it all and more importantly it has the capacity to employ around 1200 people, that’s what I want to see happen sooner rather than later. And when that happens, unemployment will start to come down.”
